What is Wrinkle Reduction?
These lines, which typically appear on the forehead (and frown), around the eyes, and mouth, are created by facial muscle contractions during expressions, leading to dynamic lines. Over time, these lines can become permanently etched into the skin, evolving into fixed more permanent lines that remain visible even when facial muscles are at rest or sleep. Static lines often cause concern as they can be misinterpreted as anger, stress or tiredness.
Wrinkles and lines are an inevitable part of aging due to the loss of collagen, skin elasticity, skin hydration and the effect of repetitive muscular contractions. However, sun damage, over animated facial expressions, cigarette smoking (plus vaping), and the genes you inherit can all adversely impact their development and severity.

Wrinkle Reduction Treatment Options
Wrinkle relaxers that target the muscles involved in causing facial lines and wrinkles
Integrated skin treatments such as SkinCeutical’s P-Tiox have been shown to help enhance wrinkle relaxer treatment results including smoother skin, and enhanced wrinkle and line reduction plus skin quality improvements including pore reduction.
Areas most treated include:
- Frown Lines (Glabellar Lines).

Wrinkle relaxers can also be utilized to help balance and address facial muscle changes causing asymmetry such as after an injury, surgery or natural variation such as an uneven smile

Energy-Based Treatments
Matrix Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling: Stimulates both collagen and elastin remodelling to help restore skin elasticity to help smile lines bounce back and reduce resting skin lines and wrinkles.
Ablative Fractionated Lasers: Remove and remodel damaged skin, promoting regenerating the collagen layer reducing the depth and severity of wrinkles. For more severe lines and skin laxity around the eyes and/or mouth full resurfacing laser (CO2 for around the eyes ALMA Hybrid and Erbium laser for around the mouth Acclaro UltraClear) can be considered
Non-Ablative Fractionated Lasers: Stimulate collagen and elastin production without removing skin layers, suitable for mild to moderate wrinkles (ALMA Hybrid, Candela Nordlys, Lutronics ULTRA 1927).
What to Expect and when do I see results after wrinkle relaxers
- You can resume normal activities immediately after treatment although some precaution such as avoiding strenuous exercise for the rest of the day will be recommended.
- Benefits can start from around 3 days and in most full benefits are seen around day 10.
- Depending on technique and product used, benefits last between 3 to 6 months.
